Notes from Food group meeting – Mon 2 Jun

Notes by Ann Baldridge

We discussed our involvement in the Greenwave Festival and decided to find out what other Transition interest groups (transport, energy, business, textiles, etc) were doing at Greenwave before deciding. The thought was that it might be more conducive for raising awareness about Transition B&H and all its groups if we are all together in the same space.

We also decided on our next two activities - a blackberry picking and jam-making day at the new Transition B&H allotment on Whitehawk Hill. This will take place on Saturday 9 August - more info to follow in due course (there will also be regular allotment work days in the near future). We will also organise a foraging day on a saturday in September. Date to be confirmed.

We discussed how to manage food group and allotment group meetings and decided that while the allotment is still getting organised (it is currently in a state of overgrowth and bramble) we would dedicate the first half of the meeting to allotment matters and the second half to more general food group matters. That way people who specifically want to be involved in the allotment (or just the wider food group) can come to just that bit of the meeting.

As there is still much to consider and resolve about the allotment, Greenwave, creating publicity materials, dates and frequency of meetings we have decided to hold another meeting sooner than usual. The next meeting is on Monday 16 June at 7:30pm.
